The Old Rope String Band

Although The Old Rope String Band, the famous comedy folk-trio no longer exists, the same spirit of nonsense and musical comedy lives on in the The New Rope String Band, a quartet. Click here to see their website.

We are maintaining this website for a while longer because people are still trying to track down The Old Ropes, and so that it's possible to find out about and buy The Old Rope DVD and still read all the tributes to Joe, which came in, and are still coming in, after his death on June 8th, 2005.

Pete and Tim would, once again, like to thank all the people who sent in tributes to Joe and the band, and those who returned again and again to our gigs. Your compliments and loyalty were a great inspiration in beginning The New Ropes.

The Old Rope String Band Classic Collection DVD

Nearly three hours of laughter and music

August 19th saw the release of this new DVD with

Live in Concert ~ Recorded at the Alnwick Playhouse, originally released as a VHS video.
Previously unseen footage ~ 26 minutes of extra footage from the Alnwick concert.
Ye Olde Ropey Videos ~ a collection of more than a decade of performances from around Europe by the Famous Folk Comedy Trio, over an hour selected from the archives and as a result of our appeal.
